Textbook Series C for Teaching Adult Students The series consists of 12 books with approximately 82 pages per book. Each book is a workbook for the student to use. The teacher will use their own copy of the same book as a guide for instruction. The advancement pace of the instruction depends entirely on the teaching group. With the goal of teaching students to confidently communicate in Spanish, many exercises to practice listening and speaking skills are used. The series also tackles grammatical concepts to create a solid base from where the student can stand on their own. The philosophy of the system is simple: build a strong foundation by learning the particularities of the language in the present tense before approaching other tenses. It introduces the grammar naturally through dialogues, readings, and verbal exercises. It also includes much repetition to cement the language. OVERVIEW OF UNITS 1-4 (Basic Spanish Speaker): Students learn to use familiar everyday expressions and phrases. They learn to comprehend straightforward texts and participate in conversations provided the other person talks slowly and is willing to help. They communicate in present tense and cover a variety of grammatical structures. They review an extensive vocabulary. OVERVIEW OF UNITS 5-8 (Independent Spanish Speaker): Students learn to interact on clear standard situations encountered at work and leisure. They learn how to deal with most conditions likely to arise while travelling in an area where Spanish is spoken. They prepare to have regular interactions with native speakers with a degree of fluency and spontaneity that produces a strain-free conversation. They speak using straightforward sentences in present, present progressive, conditional, past, and perfect tenses. OVERVIEW OF UNITS 9-12 (Independent Spanish Speaker): These units are under development and will be available soon. |
The purpose of the Anexos at the back of each book is for the student to put into practice the material covered in the Unit.
There are three Anexos at the end of each book (with the exception of Unit 1). The first Anexo contains questions for the student to practice both answering and also asking the questions. The second Anexo has four short stories for the student to listen to and then answer questions as well as ask their own questions. The third Anexo refers to four popular songs, some with exercises, for the student to practice understanding the language in action and listening/speaking while being exposed to the music of Spanish-speaking countries. Click on the thumbnails below to see examples of the 3 types of Anexos. |
